My rate is £45 and a reduced rate of £40 for those who are unemployed, receiving benefits, young person or a student. Sessions are for individuals for 1 hour, this allows time for you to get settled, 50 minutes of therapy and time to check out.
During the first session we will go over the therapeutic agreement including important information covered in it. If you have any questions at this time I welcome you to ask me for clarification. Together we will complete a short assessment form in terms of sharing what you want to gain from counselling, emergency contact details e.t.c. The first few sessions are typically a time of us getting to know each other so you feel safe to explore what is happening in your life.
You can have as many as you want, it depends on you! Everyone’s journey in counselling is different and for that reason I don’t have a limit on how many sessions you should have, we can decide together. I offer short- and long-term counselling and we will have regular reviews to check in on the changes in your life and whether more sessions would be of value to you.
Most of the counselling sessions I offer are once a week. Clients may move to fortnightly and monthly sessions after we have worked together for a long time. I do understand depending on your circumstances weekly sessions may not be possible. If this is the case we can talk about it together.
Please let me know as soon as possible if you are unable to attend one of your counselling sessions. I will always try my best to reschedule your session. Sessions that are cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice will be chargeable in full unless there are extenuating circumstances.
Counselling sessions are confidential unless in my opinion you or others are in serious danger or are at risk of being harmed. Confidentiality is covered in my therapeutic agreement and will be discussed at our first session.
I won’t tell you what to do, however instead I will encourage you to find your own solutions. I will listen and check my understanding by asking you some questions and reflect back what I have understood you have said in order for you to hear it back and process. I may offer information or strategies at times that may help you however it will be up to you whether you want to consider them.
I offer face to face appointments from my home in Bacup, Lancashire which is both quiet and private (postcode OL13) and within easy reach of Rossendale, Rochdale, Todmorden, Littleborough and Burnley. Appointments can also be arranged via Zoom or Telephone depending on what works best for you. I do not publish my home address on my website however once our first session has been confirmed I will send you detailed directions of how to get here. If you choose online counselling I will send you the Zoom link 24 hours before our appointment or if by telephone I will call you at the agreed time. Our session will only go ahead once payment has been received for confirmation of our appointment.
I offer a FREE 20-minute telephone call so you can share with me what you want to gain from counselling, ask any questions to see if you feel comfortable with me and for you to find out a little bit of information about me. During this informal chat I will take down some basic information and keep it safe. Once you have decided if you would like to work with me and how, we will arrange our first session. Before our first session I will email you my therapeutic agreement which outlines expectations, responsibilities and rights.
