Welcome to Counselling with Em

Hi, I am Em, a Person Centred Counsellor based in Bacup, Lancashire, welcome to my website!

I work with both young people and adults and offer individual confidential Face to Face, Online and Telephone Counselling to anyone aged 12+ throughout the UK.

There may be many reasons you find yourself here visiting my website.

  • Have you noticed not feeling yourself?
  • Have you experienced a loss, life change or relationship breakdown?
  • Are things getting on top of you and affecting your mental wellbeing?
  • Are past experiences having an impact on your life?
  • Is talking to your family and friends difficult?
  • Are you feeling anxious?
  • Are you feeling unmotivated or lost interest in things you used to enjoy?

Looking for a counsellor can be a daunting experience and you may have lots of questions for me.  I am a friendly, down to earth Counsellor who will offer you a safe, contained space with a smile and relaxed environment to explore what is happening in your life.  During our sessions together you will be shown respect, understanding and patience, to allow you the time and space to speak freely and openly.  I can support you by giving you the time and space to tell your story, work through the difficulties you are experiencing to help you to see things from a different perspective and explore any strategies together that you might find helpful to enable you to move forward in your life.

Counselling can help to explore a wide range of issues and I am passionate about offering you the opportunity to explore these.  Below is a list of some of the things I can help you with.  Although there are many other areas in which I can help.

  • Personal Difficulties and Life Changes
  • Anxiety
  • Depression and Low Mood
  • Relationship Difficulties
  • Self-Esteem and Confidence
  • Stress
  • Bereavement
  • Personal Boundaries
  • Bullying
  • Work related issues
  • Parenting
  • Anger Management
  • Suicidal thoughts
  • General counselling

Working within a Person-Centred approach means I put emphasis on you being at the centre of the counselling process.  One of the most important factors is the strength of our relationship as we work together to help you to explore what is happening in your life.  I can assure you, you will be offered a safe, contained space without judgement from someone who will listen to you carefully.  Together we can build a warm, safe and trustworthy relationship.

Please feel free to explore my website to find out more about me and my approach. If you have any questions or believe counselling would be helpful, please get in touch with me.  I offer a FREE 20-minute telephone appointment at a time suitable for both of us to have an informal chat about how counselling works, an opportunity to find out a little bit of information about each other and for you to ask questions you may have.
